A robotics company that has been a pioneer in its field for many years, iRobot is now focused on home automation that is smart. Their robot vacuum cleaners feature precise navigation and dirt detection.
In the frame story there is a story about a woman named Gloria who has a robot nursemaid named Robbie. Gloria is devastated when her parents take Robbie back to the factory.
Roomba
Roomba is an autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner. It was designed to clean carpets and floors It maneuvers around furniture and other obstacles to sweep the floor thoroughly. It will also return to its dock and recharges, and is controlled by an app for smartphones or the remote control.
The majority of Roomba models are able to identify obstacles using infrared sensors and can alter direction when they encounter an obstacle. Advanced models can create a floor map and determine the best route to take. They can vacuum a greater area in a shorter time and are more efficient. Certain Roombas are equipped with a squeegee that can be used to remove large pieces of debris such as pebbles or crumbs. Some have a bin with a large capacity that can hold more dirt before needing to be emptied.
The iRobot Home App allows you to set cleaning times, select when the robot is due to return, and also control other features like adjusting the number of passes. The app also gives you complete details of each cleaning job that includes the time it took to finish the task and whether the robot ran into an obstacle or stopped its job. The iRobot app can be integrated with other iRobot products, like the Braava m6, which allows you to automatically start mopping after the Roomba is done vacuuming.
In May, iRobot introduced the S series of Roombas, which feature advanced obstacle detection and intelligent mapping technology to help them determine the best route through a home. The S9 and S9+ are the smartest Roombas iRobot has made to date, offering 40 times more suction than the 600 series and 30% wider rubber brushes for better edge cleaning. They can also create “Keep Out Zones” to prevent the robot from entering certain areas, such as a thicket of cords.
The j9+ is the most premium model, and it includes everything that the brand can offer. The j9+ has self-emptying bases, advanced obstacle detection and automatic updates to iRobot OS. It can also learn about your cleaning habits and adjust the power on its motors for brush cleaning. It’s also able to remove deep-seated dirt hairs, pet hairs, and allergens.
Scooba
The Irobot Scooba is designed to clean your floors without the mess. It uses an active reservoir design to separate the cleaning solution from the dirty sand. It also has three steps of cleaning which scrubs, washes and squeeges the floor to get rid of dirt and odor. It can clean up 150 square feet in just one cleaning.
The Scooba has a very easy operation. The top of the Scooba is equipped with three buttons with backlights that are clearly labeled labels. The largest button, Effortlessly Clean Your Space with iRobot Roomba 692, initiates and stops the cleaning process. The Information button to left will flash different colors to indicate status and the third button is a button that will initiate a specific task. There is a small power switch and a port for the power cord.
It includes a battery that you can replace as needed. It takes about two hours to charge, however it’s extremely convenient for those who need quick clean-ups. The Scooba also has an adjustable bottom plate to make it easier to clean the bristles as well as the vacuum holes. The battery slot has an recessed, press-fit design. However there is an O rings to stop water from entering the compartment.
In our tests test, the Scooba was able to wash the majority of our kitchen tiles but it struggled a bit with our mudroom. It was able to wash the mud, but not the edges of the room and it was unable to get close to the kitchen cabinets. We also discovered that we could easily get the rounded Scooba stuck beneath furniture. This was not ideal for us.
It did an excellent job of cleaning the rest of our house however, and it was extremely quick in Revolutionize Cleaning with iRobot Roomba j7+ up. It also kept the bathroom clean and we didn’t need to be concerned about any smells that remained. The Scooba is also very loud, so it would be difficult to operate in a living room or bedroom room.
I did notice some gunk stuck in the vacuum holes at the bottom of the Scooba. This is easily removed by rinsing it off. This is crucial, as clogged holes could cause the bot to stop functioning.
Braava
The iRobot Braava Jet m6 might appear simple, but the company has packed a lot of smart engineering to make mopping and navigation work efficiently. The compact body, which measures 10x10x 3,5 inches and weighs just 4.4 pounds, allows it to move through tight spaces without causing damage to furniture. The cleaning head of the robot is designed to scrub hard floors, and its nozzle sprays water for wet mopping. It also vibrates to remove dirt and remove stains.
The robot uses the most advanced vSLAM navigation technology to locate your home, avoiding carpets and other obstacles. Its driving wheels enable it to get around corners, and cliff sensors stop it from falling down steep drops or stairs. It also learns about your cleaning habits and suggests additional mopping during allergy or pollen season.
Using the iRobot HOME App, you can create a cleaning schedule and select rooms to be cleaned. You can create Keep Out Zones, which will block off areas that you do not want the robot to enter into. You can even control the robot with voice commands, due to its compatibility with Google Assistant and Alexa devices (sold separately).
If you’re not happy with the results of your cleaning task you can adjust the level of power to suit your needs. The M6 comes with three pre-set settings that balance cleaning power and surface. Standard mode is perfect for routine maintenance. Deep and extended coverage modes work well for tackling tough dirt. You can use a conventional cleaning solution or iRobot’s Hard Floor Cleaning Solution that is available separately.
The m6 will be able to return to the base station and recharge itself after cleaning. The light ring on the top of the robot indicates its current state, and a battery icon will appear when it’s charged. The iRobot HOME app can connect to a Braava and Roomba. Roomba which allows you to coordinate cleaning tasks.
