Mini Cooper Key Fob Troubleshooting Tips
A Mini Cooper is a unique car that offers classic style and incredible handling. However, it’s not without its share of issues.
The most common issue is a broken key fob. This can lead to costly trips to the dealer, but you can fix it yourself.
Remote Mirror Control
The MINI Cooper keyfob is equipped with a range of useful features that include the ability to remotely operate exterior features like the sunroof and roll-up windows. This is an excellent convenience for a lot of drivers.
The remote mirror control functions by permitting drivers to press the “lock” button on their key fob to fold their side-view mirrors. It is also possible to use the same button to fold them again. If you’re having problems with this feature on your vehicle, it’s possible that the switch that controls it has failed. A local ASE certified technician can examine the switch to determine if the switch needs to be replaced.
Some drivers have reported that their side mirrors in their car can be adjusted from top to bottom, but not the other way around. This indicates that the mirror control switch has likely been affected by a glitch. This could be caused by an unreliable master switch, a faulty slave switch, or an issue with the relay that sends the signal to control the mirrors.
Fortunately, this issue can be solved by a quick and inexpensive fix provided by your local ASE certified mechanic. The solution is to replace the control switch for the mirror replaced. This will solve the issue and allow you to enjoy the exterior features of your car without having to worry about someone else stealing your car.
Remote Start
The standard MINI Cooper keyfob is equipped with a battery which charges when it is inserted in the ignition lock. It is a good idea to check the condition of the battery at least once a year. If the battery is depleted then you must replace it as per the guidelines in this article.
Many cars are equipped with remote starters, which allow you to start your car from a distance. This is very useful in the winter when you’re trying to warm up your car prior to leaving for work, and can also help you heat or cool down the interior.

It’s a great way to have peace of mind when you park your car in a parking area that’s not familiar or when you’re leaving your car in a parked area for any amount of time.
