The Roomba’s advanced navigation technology is a combination of iRobot’s top-ofthe-line Precision Vision navigation with a camera that can identify common objects and obstacles. The cameras let it bypass common barriers such as cords socks, shoes backpacks, pet toys, and perform customized cleaning around them. The Combo i5/i5+ has the exclusive Dirt Detect Technology, which allows it to pay more focus on areas that are dirty.
This robot’s auto-emptying Clean Base can store up to 60 days of debris and eliminates the need for manual maintenance. It also has a recharge-and-resume feature that sends the robot back to its home base to charge when its battery is exhausted. It can then pick up right where it left off.
The i5+ robot is great for most homes. It’s however not meant for carpeted or stairways. It also has a limited dustbin capacity, meaning it won’t be able clean the entire house in the event of a large amount of trash or pets. If you’re seeking a Roomba that can take on more difficult environments, you should consider the i7 or i9 models. These robots are better equipped to tackle stairs and can also be used to mop wet areas. With its cutting-edge technology and innovative design The iRobot Combo i5/i5+ is an ideal option for homes that require both mopping and vacuum.
iRobot Roomba Combo i7
This high-end model has premium features and class leading performance, which should entice customers from budget competitors. Its most noteworthy upgrade is a built-in automatic dirt disposal system that eliminates the requirement to empty the dust bin after each clean. The i7+ also has permanent mapping that allows it to remember the design of your home and adapt to different layouts instantly.
The Combo i7+ is easy to set up, and comes with a straightforward app walkthrough and clear instructions on screen that will guide you through the initial setup and registration process. Once the robot has been registered and able to be controlled to vacuum or mop with the IRobot Braava Jet M6 – Advanced Smart Mapping Robot Mop HOME app, or Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. The i7+ can be programmed easily, allowing you scheduling cleaning sessions and establish virtual boundaries.
In our tests, we observed that the i7+ was able climb over floor breaks, and other obstacles easily. It was also able identify obstacles like furniture without a problem, but it wasn’t able to get over a slab of marble measuring two inches that separated the kitchen and living spaces. Edge cleaning is better than what we saw with the budget robot vacuums. It has a great grip on corners.
Once the i7+ reaches maximum capacity in its dustbin and then drives back to its Clean Base, empties the contents and then gets ready for the next clean. When it’s time to add cleaning fluid, simply press a button on the side of the robot, and a small combo water tank/dustbin clips open.
The only real drawback is that the Clean Base takes up a significant amount of space, making it difficult to tuck the i7+ away in a closet when it’s not being used. This is a common problem with robot cleaners, and a majority of manufacturers have charging stations that are more compact. They also fit under cabinets which makes it easier to cover the iRobot while it is not being used. iRobot Roomba i7+ (7550) Robot Vacuum: Smart Wi-Fi Connected has reached out to us following publication to clarify that the Combo i7+ is designed to be used only with the manufacturer-approved cleaning solution (sold separately). It is not recommended to use water as this can cause damage to internal components and decrease performance.
iRobot Roomba Combo i9
The robot vacuums and mop simultaneously. It uses its stainless steel arm with dual arms to pick up dirt while it moves. It lowers its mop when it sees carpets to avoid getting carpets wet. This is a nice feature. This feature that iRobot calls Dry Rug Intelligence, worked well in my tests, and was a huge improvement over the older Roomba models that could only vacuum and mop without changing modes.
The iRobot app lets you create cleaning schedules and also access the history and status updates. The app also contains “robot health” information, including how long you can anticipate your iRobot’s lifespan before it requires new filters or a new mopping pad. The app also includes detailed instructions, troubleshooting suggestions, and advanced settings for adjusting the mopping water level and the number of mopping cycles per floor, and more.
The new navigation system from iRobot helps the i8 navigate around your home, and it can navigate around obstacles like power cords easily. The navigation system also recognizes different floors and adjusts its cleaning routes according to the floor. If you live in a an enormous home it could require several runs to finish its mapping process.
Another advantage of this robot is that it integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. You can control it with your voice. This is an excellent feature for busy people. This feature is extremely useful for those who need to clean their homes regularly and efficiently.
The iRobot i8 is able to connect with smart home devices and also be used with the iBraava Jet M6, a mop that can be set to automatically begin sweeping when the i8 finishes vacuuming. The i8 comes with a Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal system and an additional HEPA filter.
This is iRobot’s latest flagship model, and it’s their most powerful robot vacuum to date. It has a bigger internal dustbin and can move with greater ease over rugs. It can also detect more dirt on floors of any type. The i9 also has the ability to detect different rooms and alter its cleaning schedule automatically. This makes it more efficient than earlier models. The i9 also comes with more advanced mopping capabilities, including deep cleaning and spot mopping.
Roomba i9+ by iRobot
The Roomba i9+ robot vacuum and mop is one the most versatile options, providing top-rated cleaning on floors and carpets. It’s also among the most intelligent robots available – it learns the floor plan of your home while cleaning, and remembers that map for any future jobs and allows you to find your way back to where you were. Its SmartScrub feature is best-in-class for cleaning stubborn dirt, pet hair and other buried debris. Dirt Detective is another new feature that detects and prioritizes areas in need of attention. Clean Base auto-fill keeps your robot’s water and dustbin full.
The i9+ also does a great job of cleaning up pet messes, with the one caveat is that it may miss some of them if you have particularly deep litter boxes (we’ve seen this issue on other robots as well). It’s also fantastic in picking up pet waste, but it may miss some if your litter box is particularly deep (we’ve experienced the same issue with other robots). The i9+ also is one of our favorites for cleaning bare floor surfaces. It’s effective at clearing away the various kinds of debris without leaving streaks or scratching marks on the surface, unlike some competitors (we’d recommend the eufy X10 Pro Omni for pet people).
