Best Rated Roomba Vacuums
This Roomba is considered to be one of the best vacuums on the market. It has the strongest AI obstacle-avoidance system of any vacuum we’ve ever tested. It also has a mopping mechanism with dual rubber brushes that are less likely to get caught than bristle brushes.
It uses random navigation (or bumps) instead of the vSLAM. This takes longer but ensures that every room is clean. It also has a remarkable battery life and is effective on both carpet and hardwood flooring.
1. Roomba i3+ EV
The i3+ EVO has a stylish matte gray finish on the top that resembles fabric and helps reduce fingerprints. Smart mapping technology creates a map of your home with the help of advanced sensors. This helps it keep rooms clean and stay clear of obstacles. You can also alter your cleaning preferences using the iRobot app, which gives suggestions based on your house and the seasons (like running it more often during the season of allergy). The high-efficiency filter of the robot traps 99 per cent of allergens including dust mites, mold and dog and cat fur. It also has a cliff- and edge-sweeping sensor and four brushes (including one side brush and two multi-surface long brush, and two long multi-surface multi-surface brushes), and a tracker for the floor to keep it on its designated path.
During testing the i3+ EVO cleaned our floors quickly and efficiently. It effortlessly transitioned from carpet to rugs and back and didn’t have any issues crossing the metal or wooden trim that separates different flooring types. However, it did bump into a few objects, such as shoes, bags, and robotvacuummops handbags as well as pet toys, but was able to move around them. It also missed a few spots of dirt on our carpet, though it was able to pick up hairs from other areas.
The i3+ EVO is a great choice for homes with carpeting but isn’t able to picking up crumbs and other debris. It’s not able to remove pet hair from carpets and is not the ideal choice for those looking to replace their traditional vacuum cleaner with an automated. Additionally, it isn’t equipped with the superior obstacle avoidance of the top Roombas like the J7+ and S9+, which makes it more likely to run into pet waste and spread it on floors.
2. Roomba J7+
This is one of the top robot vacuums designed for those with carpet, hard floors and carpet. Its most prominent feature is its obstacle detection that intelligently avoids cords, furniture legs and pet waste. It’s also great at cleaning hard floors and also picking up hairs that are stuck in the brush.
The Roomba J7+ is unique to other robots because it can adjust its suction strength. You can do this through the app, which also features scheduling and map editing that works well, as well as a favourites section for the most frequent cleaning tasks. The j7+ is also quite quiet, particularly when you have a higher-end flooring option and it does a fantastic job of keeping up with manual vacuuming.
As is customary IRobot’s top-ofthe-line bots tend to perform better in cleaning than the lower-end models. In our tests, we discovered that the j7+ was able remove more dirt from hard and carpeted surfaces. It also did better in crevices. The only problem was that it performed less well in the longer test for human hair, which is common with all robots.
The j7+ comes with an auto-emptying Clean Base that automatically moves dirt from the robot’s bin to an enclosed dirt bag every time it docks. That reduces hands-on maintenance requirements and is a great benefit for anyone with allergies. The j7+ is also compatible with irobot self empty Braava Jet M Series robot mop through its Imprint Link feature. It will automatically resume mopping after the vacuuming has been completed.
3. Roomba i7+
Watching the i7+ clean a room is a mesmerizing experience. It follows a pattern that is similar to the way a lawn-care professional trims a sports field prior to an event. At times, it will return to its dock to empty its dust bin or recharge its batteries. This feature, which enables the vacuum to empty itself, is a wonderful addition that eliminates the requirement for manual maintenance.
It is equipped with a powerful suction, which enables it to easily eliminate dirt and pet hair. Even on carpets with a high pile it can take care of the majority of debris with a single pass. It’s also able to find areas with high traffic and spend more time in those areas. This is particularly useful when your pets and children bring in a lot of trash from the outdoors.
Smart Mapping is another great feature. It allows the i7+ learn the layout of your house and create a floor plan that you can customize while it vacuums. It took me four one-hour sessions to fully map out my two-bedroom apartment but, once it had it was able navigate the space in a rational manner and efficiently. The app allows you to modify the map by adding virtual boundaries or giving the rooms names. This means that you can set the i7+ to sweep around the cat’s litter tray every morning, or stay clear of the sofa in the living room after everyone has gone to go to bed.
The i7+ also includes a sidebrush and a tangle free spinning squeegee which are ideal to pick up any debris that would otherwise fall to the ground. It also comes with a battery with Recharge and Resume technology, so it will pick up exactly where it left off during an earlier cleaning session when you let it charge up.
4. Roomba 694
The 694 is an excellent entry-level robot for anyone who wants to keep their home clean, without the advanced automation features that higher-end models provide. It will learn about your habits of cleaning and suggest cleaning schedules. It also integrates with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistants so you can start a cleaning session by simply dictating.
The dual multi-surface brushes remove dirt from carpets and hard floors and edges, while the edge-sweeping brush cleans corners and edges. The battery will last for 90 minutes before docking back to the Home Base when it runs out.
A large Clean/Power button sits in the middle of the top panel with Home and Spot buttons above and below it. The indicator for the battery level is lit in orange when charging and green once the robot is powered up. The dustbin is inserted at the back and can be released by pressing a button.
The Roomba 694 is a fantastic job of navigating bare floors and also sucks up large particles like cereal and rice, though it struggles with small particles like baking soda and tends to overflow the dirt compartment when it fills up. It’s not as effective on carpets with low pile, but it still scores higher than other robot vacuums at this price point.
It’s very effective in picking up hair from pets. However, some strands may get caught around the side brush. Its poor performance on cat litter is also a problem however, it still beat the perfect score of most other robots in this class and beat our most value pick (the Roborock S4 Max) by 19 points. The 694 is a bit more than the RoboVac 30, but is more robust, needs less maintenance, has lower recurring cost, charges faster, and performs better on floors with a high pile and bare. It has a bigger bin and can be used without internet connectivity.
5. Eufy 11s
The eufy11s is one of most affordable robot vacuums available. It’s also a great choice if you want a simple and reliable machine. It can remove pet hair and other particles effectively on carpets that are hard and low-pile and is also adept in maneuvering around furniture and obstacles. Its slim profile is ideal to reach under couches with low clearance, coffee tables, and other furniture, and it’s also one of the quietest robot vacuums we’ve tested.
But that’s all it is This is one of the most minimalist models we’ve seen, and it’s lacking certain features that are found on more expensive models. It doesn’t come with an app so you’ll have to set the schedule manually using the remote control. It does not have a battery level or dust bin alert. You’ll need to manually empty the bin whenever needed.
Despite its cost, this model is still solidly constructed and simple to maintain. It also has a lengthy maximum battery life, and has decent performance on flat floors as well as when navigating around obstacles. It was able to climb over low-lying obstacles, such as electrical cords easily in our tests. However, it experienced difficulties with high-pile carpets.
Although the eufy 11s is better than the ONSON GOOVI, we recommend going with an option that is more expensive if you can afford it. The iRobot Roomba 694 has a longer battery life, is simpler to maintain and has a lower recurring cost. It is also more efficient on bare floors and when moving around furniture, and it has an even bigger dust bin.
