Cheap Single Pushchairs
If you’re on a tight budget and don’t require a stroller that can double into a car seat carrier The Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It features a flip-flop-friendly one-step footbrake.
It’s also easy to push and feels sturdy in navigating kerbs or woodland paths. It’s also easy to fold.
1. Babyzen YOYO2
The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the ultimate lightweight buggy for city dwellers and jet-setters alike, thanks to its super nimble manoeuvrability and fold-down that fits into the overhead luggage of aeroplanes. The most recent version comes with independent suspension on all four wheels comprised of Hytrel elastomer. This allows it to ‘perfectly traverse all terrains and types’.
The bent fabric bassinet, the base YOYO2 frame and 6+ months colour pack combine to create a stylish pushchair that has a soft elegant design. The frame’s weight is less than a kilo, and is so light it is able to be lifted from the box using just one hand.
The hood, for instance is able to snap onto the YOYO2 in a reassuring way. It is also machine washable at 30deg, which helps to prevent stains caused by smushed carrot puffs and rice cakes. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as prams. It could also be converted into a stroller after 6 months by using the YOYO connect to additional chassis.
2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore
The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great choice for parents who are looking for a stroller that can be used in a variety of ways. The Evenflo Xplore can be transformed from a stroller to an actual wagon by flipping the handle. Parents can then select the best mode for their adventure. The wagon is able to accommodate two or three children ranging from 6 months to five years old. It has a huge storage basket that can hold all your necessities while on the go.
The Xplore has two canopies that rotate from front-to-back, providing adequate sun protection for the entire family. It has a smaller footwell than some wagons. This may not be suitable for long trips or naps.
The frame of the Xplore wagon is solid and sturdy, however, it isn’t able to bend as much as other wagons that we tested. It is also more difficult to fold than many of the competition and does not close tightly when folded. It is easy to maneuver, though, and it can fit through narrow 28-inch doors.
3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side
This Delta Children bare-bones travel stroller is a great choice for parents looking for a second stroller that’s priced reasonably. It earned an eye-catching score in our Strollers and Multiples test for weight and size folded, which means it’s very light, compact when folded and easy to lift into a trunk of a car or closet. It also offers a multi-position reclining seat and a cup holder for the parent. Other important features include 360-degree shock-absorbing front wheels, as well as two large hanging storage bags.
It performed better in our push and turn test than most of the strollers we tested but is nonetheless difficult to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. Its sunshades were among the smallest of all strollers we tested. They only cover the top, and do not have peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have much larger canopies.
It took us less than 3 minutes to assemble the Delta with a manual. The parts are all non-required and required tools. However, it’s missing certain essential features we believe you should consider non-negotiable in a double stroller, such as an extra-large basket and reclining seats that have adjustable leg rests.
4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1
The Zelia is the latest addition to Maxi-Cosi’s pushchair range and is billed as an urban travel system. It is suitable from birth to around Cosatto Woosh 3 Lightweight Stroller – Dino Style.5-years-old. The seat and carrycot can be easily converted in a few clicks. It is compatible with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats. It includes a light Mico 30 infant seat, a stay-in-car-base and a reversible baby carriage.
It’s really easy to maneuver and the one-hand reclining of the seat as well as the massive shopping basket make it easy for parents to get their child in and out quickly. Although it is a narrow pushchair it handled the bumps of everyday life well and went through doorways without any fuss.
The front wheels can to be locked in a forward direction, or they can pivot. This is useful when navigating rough terrain. On our walk through the stony trail, we allowed them to swivel and it handled this fairly well although it did seem slightly bumpier than other models in our test.
5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2
Baby Jogger is best known for its 3-wheeled all-terrain strollers for jogging. However, they also produce a wide selection of pushchairs with four wheels. City Tour 2 is their most well-known model. It is easy to use and folds up small enough to fit into a car boot even with the carrycot attached.
It’s heavier than other strollers that we tried, but because it comes with rubber composite wheels it feels sturdy and well-made. It is easy to maneuver across different terrains, and even with two children as well as a shopping bag and other things.
Both the seat and carrycot have hoods that are able to be lower to reveal the UV50and sun canopy extensions. They are waterproof and strong, unlike some other prams’ hoods that get turned back into toddlers’ faces.
It’s not the biggest of storage space, however it does come with a huge basket that’s deep enough for a changing bag and plenty of food items. You can also connect it with a Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a traveling system for infants up to 20 pounds (car seat and adapters sold separately). If you require a stroller that is able to be taken on the road, then the City Tour 2 is an ideal choice.
6. Nuna Mixx Next
Nuna Mixx was a stroller that won the hearts of a large number of parents when it first appeared. It’s an aluminum-framed stroller which can be used from the infant’s earliest days through. It is a standout model with many unique features, such as the ability of the seat to be turned between the parent and the world, a large UPF50+ canopy with an eye shade that flips out, and an adjustable handlebar.
The chassis comes with a built-in suspension system which reduces the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are made of tough foam and reduce punctures. Our tester found it to be smooth to push and was able to maneuver it through narrow streets with ease.
It folds automatically and locks in just four steps. It can also be rolled and stood up for easier transport down the stairs, or in the boot of the car. The travel system comes included with the option to add an additional car seat or carrycot by using the adaptors included. The brakes come with a single action and are colour coded. They also are compatible with flip-flops.
7. BABYZEN YOYO2 Stroller – White Frame Ginger Color Pack – Perfect Lightweight Stroller for Your Baby! Duet
This budget-friendly pushchair is simple to use and has a great dual suspension. It can be folded with one hand and comes with a handy carrying strap. It is also lightweight and sturdy. The seat can be reclined into many different positions. It also has a double-breathable mattress built in that is suitable for babies.
The canopy/seat has two large sun visors that are either fixed or flipped out. Both are UPF50+. However, the toggle closure isn’t ideal because it’s not as quiet as Velcro and may wake napping babies.
The Duet is a side-by-side stroller and can be set up to take twins or siblings (up to a maximum of 22kg per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seats and even works with a few carrycots. In twin mode, the seats can face one another or rotate around to face their parents, potentially decreasing sibling disputes over who sits with mom and dad. It comes with a large tray for gears with a bottle holder as well as snack tray. It also has an automated frame lock and a superior compact fold.
8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.
The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger for parents who love to be active. It’s one of the lightest running strollers you can get for your child. It comes with excellent safety features such as five-point harnesses and a secure wrist strap. It also has an innovative twist hand brake that’s different than the lever type that is found on other models.
The seat is very comfortable and provides a wide area to sit. However the seat’s depth is less than that of other runners (it’s just 10 inches deep”) The storage bin is equipped with a zippered cover to help keep items safe. It can hold 10 lbs., which is sufficient for most diaper bags.
The Urban Glide 2 isn’t compatible with infant car seats or bassinets as it comes, but you can use it from the beginning with the purchase of adapters to most seats from brands such as BOB, Graco, Combi, Evenflo, Britax, and UPPAbaby. It’s easy to fold and put together in 5-10 minutes without any tools. The instruction manual is easy to comprehend and contains multiple languages.
