Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you’re seeking a buggy to run around in or a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight places.
For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are prone, however to punctures. Be prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
Figures have just been released showing that the three-wheeled vehicle – a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity – is in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easier to drive and look fashionable.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear allow you to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found that it was able to handle grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks, and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and need to be pumped regularly and have a suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. You want the seat to be big enough for your child to feel comfortable and allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have an option to lie flat completely while others allow the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and wet walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4 and comes with a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat. Storage options are also a plus, with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with larger diameter
Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is particularly useful when you crash into the kerb or a tree. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres. This means they are able to handle many different terrains and are far more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they’re susceptible to punctures so you’ll need to keep a repair kit, spare tube and pump in your bag.
Our top 3 wheeler buggy-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. According to MFM’s Kath, have larger wheels that according to her “perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles”, and can easily go up or down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which, in her words “smoothes out bumps very effectively”.
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite large, and they may be a challenge to fit in tight spaces. This is an issue when you’re using it for a jogger or you need to be able to get through doorways that are narrow when you’re out and out and about. Many models have small folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the primary benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it’s much more maneuverable, especially with a child in tow. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels spin at a quick pace and are extremely easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and stated: “The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground, with the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also amazed by how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven terrain.”
The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of if your home area is one of the cities. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars will protect your child from scrapes and bumps when they are out and out and about. These bumper bars are easy to put in place and will make your child feel secure and safe out and out and about.
Created to match the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features an upholstered and soft surface that offers an ideal place for your child to hold to while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child is capable of enjoying a stroll around town without worrying about falling or leaning forward.
The sling is stowed inside the frame and not on top of the seat that is modular. This creates a lower center of gravity for your infant at the ideal height, and also offers an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push the stroller up and over than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and it’s a good option for jogging with its lockable swivel front wheel and air filled tyres.
This bumper bar is sure to attract attention wherever it’s used. It has a classy and stylish appearance. It’s available in a range of finishes and colors to match your style. The bumper bar can be easily installed and removed with a quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is made of durable materials. This makes it a good choice for families looking for a stylish and safe stroller accessory.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also adored the space of the buggy. There’s a nimble large basket that’s surprising spacious for a vehicle that’s this big. Additionally, there’s an excellent pouch on the back of the unit, as well as two smaller mesh pockets beneath the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys.
